My name is Terri Kane and I have been the librarian at HNCS since the fall of 2001. I currently work part-time at school—just 3 days a week.
My other part-time job is working with my husband, David, on the family ranch. We have 3 sons: Jade, Ryan, and Nathan. All three have attended HNCS.
Classes from preschool through 4th grade come to the library once a week. The 5th-8th graders drop in when they need a book.
A program that I do with K-3rd grade students is the “Buckaroo Book Award.” Over several months, I read all 15 books that have been nominated for the award. Then, the first week of March, we have a party and everyone votes for their favorite book. We also celebrate wit ice cream cake from Dairy Queen! I forward our votes on to the state coordinator of the Buckaroo Book Award.
With the youngest children, I always read a story before allowing time for looking at and checking out books. I also teach library skills to the older children.
Please come to the library to see for yourself. I would love to visit with you about our wonderful school!
