Greetings from fourth grade. My name is Judy Steele and I am beginning my 21st year at Holy Name Catholic School. Over the years I have taught most grades, but moved to fourth grade in 2003 and am enjoying the fourth graders along with the fourth grade curriculum.
Learning about Wyoming history is a favorite of fourth graders. Various activities, such as making fossils, crafting Indian masks, learning from guest speakers, and taking several field trips in the spring make this an exciting subject.
All of the subjects are important, but I feel it is also important to stress kindness, cooperation, and a helpful attitude in my classroom. These qualities help a classroom run smoother and teach students that by working together they can accomplish great things—whether it’s working on a reading project or making the paper ornaments for the Giving Tree at church. And in the long run, students will reap great benefits not only from their academic skills, but from their people skills, too.
In my free time, I enjoy camping and hiking with my husband, Jeff. Reading and cooking are also favorite hobbies of mine.
